Jamaican-born Bishop, Sylveta Hamilton-Gonzales graduated summa cum laude from the College of New Rochelle, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religion and received the Medal of Honor for Academic Excellence, as well as the National Dean’s List Award of Merit for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

At the College of New Rochelle, she served as vice president and president of the Student Government Association and later became an adjunct professor of Comparative Religious Traditions, and English-Experience Learning and Identity.

Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales is also a graduate of the New York Theological Seminary, where she received her certification in Christian Ministry.

Accepted at both Harvard and Princeton Seminary, she chose Princeton, where she received a Masters degree in divinity.

At Princeton, Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales was elected Middle Class Representative and vice president of the Student Government Association; chairperson of the Association of Black Seminarians Multi-Cultural Activities (Black History Month) and council member of Princeton Theological Seminar Woman’s Center. She was the founder/spokesperson of the Seminarians for Justice Coalition.

Her distinguished leadership qualities earned her the prestigious Reverend William Alfred Byrd Centennial Prize for Outstanding Contribution to the Princeton Theological Seminary Community.

As a result, Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales’s name appears in the permanent record of Princeton Theological Seminary Catalogue.

She was later accepted at Drew University to work on her PhD in religion and society; her doctorate in ministry.

The many facets of Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales’s mission are culminated in her synthesis of the spiritual, social and political.

She is a dynamic leader who has worked relentlessly to develop the Brooklyn-based QKingdom Ministries, Inc. and its subsidiaries that include the Woman of Great Esteem Organization.

Under her magnanimous leadership, the Brooklyn-based MACADEMY School of Science & Technology, which she founded, has advanced and became a top-ranked school on GreatSchools.org in New York State.

Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales is also an internationally known outstanding educator and motivational public speaker.

She said MACADEMY School of Science and Technology is a family-oriented institution that provides a “world class education” for all children especially those from low-income families.

“Our mission is ‘preparing students today to be global thinkers and leaders for the advancement of our humanity,” Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales said.

She said MACADEMY prepares students for “success in college” and to be confident intelligent citizens whose ethical and critical thinking skills define their character and academic competence.

Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales said her students advance in math, science, writing, Spanish and oratory skills.

She said MACADEMY students have been accepted to Stuyvesant High School, Bronx High School of Science, Brooklyn Technical, Parcker Collegiate, Poly Prep Day School, Berkeley Carroll, Brooklyn Friends, Friends Seminary, among others.

“The academic foundation from MACADEMY has provided our students with a 95 percent college acceptance to institutions such as MIT, Howard University, Moore House College, Penn State University, many CUNY and SUNY colleges, too many to mention,” Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales said.

Over the years, she said MACADEMY’s students have received well over $5,000,000 in scholarship offers for their outstanding academic performance.

Bishop Hamilton-Gonzales attributed the school’s outstanding performance on its administration and parents’ involvement in their child (ren)’s education.

“Their essential roles also involve the successful development of students’/teachers’ relationships,” she said. “MACADEMY sees its role as a coparenting partner with parents, sharing a joint responsibility for their child(ren)’s accomplishments on their educational and social developmental journey.”
