9th annual GemStarr Entertainment awardees celebrated with fashions by J-Love School of Etiquette
Nine adults and four youths were recently honored with plaques, proclamations, and citations for their excellence, in academic achievement, business, community service and education, at the recent 9th Annual GemStarr Entertainment Women Who Dare to Be Different Awards ceremony. The ceremony was held at the Theodore D. Young Community Center in White Plains, New York on March, 25, 2023.
The honorees are Hon. Tajian Nelson, Nada Khader, Rev. Dr. Sebrina Trent-Elmore, Natalie Barrington, Faye Wilkie-Fields, Evangelist Min. Brenda Sterling, Sister Marsha L. Allen, and Jaime McGills.
Tiffany Nicholson, Prescilazoe Nyarko, Jordan Acevedo, and Jahnii Banks, received the Youth Award, while the Legacy Award went to Barbara Perry.
Hon. Letitia James, NYS attorney General applauded the ladies for their outstanding contributions, during the recent Women’s International Heritage Month.
“It’s really critically important that we teach girls about being close up to power and recognizing that they belong in this spot and on this stage,” said New York State Attorney General Letitia James, keynote speaker.
“We’ve come together this afternoon as kindred spirits to support those women among us who’ve made a difference — women who think about others before they think about themselves,” said James.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman in turn said “such events honor the legacies of all women who make a difference in their communities. I’m just grateful that they allowed me as a man to step into this space and say a few words, not just in honor of Tish James, but in honor of all the women leaders that we have,” Bowman said.
State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins was also in attendance at the event attended by more than 300 people.
According to Athena Dent-Alleyne, board member/executive assistant, author of five books, said a high-end fashion show by premiere modeling school J. Love Fashion School of Etiquette, Inc., led by CEO & Founder, Jacqueline Love Calloway, entertained the more than 300 attendees.
She said the premiere school is known as being the only school in the United States that trains and nurtures people with various disabilities to become professional models.
The models displayed original clothing designs by renowned and national fashion designers including Willie Hall Designs and Highly Humble.
Clothing was also modeled from the boutique, LIHA.
