21 T&T players earn CPL contracts

Trinidad and Tobago players continue to be in high demand in the Hero Caribbean Premier League with 21 of them earning contracts to play in the 2021 edition of the tournament, set to be staged entirely at Warner Park, St. Kitts.

As was expected, the Trinidad and Tobago Knight Riders (TKR), the defending champions, led the pack signing 12 local players, including first-time contracted wicketkeeper/batsman Leonardo Julien and veteran fast bowler, Ravi Rampaul.

Julien was also part of the West Indies Under-19 squad last year and was also part of the West Indies Emerging Players team that won the Cricket West Indies Super 50 Cup in 2019.

Rampaul  reunites with his former Barbados Captain, Kieron Pollard — now in his third season at the helm of the TKR.

Rampaul, 36, impressed in the CG Insurance Super50 Cup earlier this year, taking 14 wickets in six matches as the T&T Red Force won the tournament.

The Guyana Amazon Warriors held on to Nicholas Pooran who was named captain and the St. Lucia Zouks signed Mark Deyal, while the Jamaica Tallawahs completed their squad with middle-order batsman Mohammed and emerging player and off spinner, Joshua James from Tobago.
