DJ Bravo claims 500th T20 wickets

DJ Dwayne Bravo became the first bowler in T20 cricket history to take 500 career wickets when he dismissed Rakheem Cornwall of the St. Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) tournament at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain last week.

The Queen’s Park Oval is where he learned to play the game at the age of eight.

Bravo playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) removed the dangerous Cornwall for his 100th wicket in his three overs which just cost him seven runs and took two catches in the rain-affected match.

His 500th wicket came in his 459 match. Bravo, 36, has played over 450 matches since making his debut in the format in 2006.

During his career, Bravo has played in several Twenty20 leagues around the world including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the Big Bash in Australia.

TKR has won its fourth consecutive match to start the CPL tournament with a victory over St. Lucia Zouks.

Bravo took two wickets for seven runs in the rain-affected match in which the Zouks scored 111 in 17.1 overs.

After a two-hour rain delay, TKR was set a revised target of 72 in nine overs.

They got home in eight overs, with Bravo, who cracked his 100th six in CPL history. He was on 23 with Tim Seifert on 15 not out to end the match.
