Caribbean pols pay special tribute to mothers
Caribbean legislators on Mother’s Day, Sunday, paid special tributes to mothers, noting their extraordinary roles.
“As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we pay tribute to the incredible strength, dedication and love exhibited by all mothers,” New York City Council Member Mercedes Narcisse told Caribbean life. “The role of a mother in the Caribbean-American community is one of profound influence and cultural preservation.
“Mothers not only carry the responsibility of nurturing families but also help preserve and promote the rich traditions and vibrant cultures of our islands,” added the Haitian-born representative for the 46th Council District in Brooklyn. “They serve as the bedrock of our communities, offering wisdom and guidance that shape future generations.
“To every mother who balances the demands of work, family and community with unparalleled grace and resilience, please know that your hard work and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” continued Narcisse, a registered nurse by training. “We recognize and admire the countless roles you play — teacher, doctor, confidant and leader, always ensuring the well-being of those around you while often putting your own needs aside.
“Wishing you a day filled with love, joy, and the pampering you so richly deserve,” she said. “You are the heart of our families and the soul of our neighborhoods. Happy Mother’s Day to you all, the cherished matriarchs of our Caribbean-American community. May this day bring you the same happiness and warmth you generously spread throughout the year.”
